Realizing the vision outlined in our park master plan
Ideas are easy; execution is hard
The Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) maintains West Austin Park but desired improvements must be driven by neighbors. Years ago a comprehensive plan for improvements to the park was proposed by OWANA and the Friends of West Austin Park (FOWAP). It was adopted by City Council in 2013. The plan envisions a nature trail on the east side of the park, a more accessible entrance from 9-1/2 Street, an adult seating area/garden in the northwest corner, and an improved open field with better drainage and filtration. Those are just a few of the improvements in the long term plan. Want to help us make it happen?
